329 E. 8th Street

This is the view from the window of my squat in the East Village in the late 1980's. I was there for two and a half years before it burned to the ground. From my 5th floor window I watched five buildings burn. Directly below was an ever changing contained trashed heap that when mixed with the memories of the fires resulted in this painting. The memory of my fire is exposed in a painting called "With All My Heart", which I will post as I continue to blog.

This is the painting that marks a true turning point in my abilities as a painter. It is from here I move forward.
